P5.6.7 Cross Country Day

Read moreOn Thursday the 6th of February primary 5/6/7 went to cross country, they went on a bus to Eyemouth, they had to lap around all 3 fields twice. It was a very long way! They were split up into boys and girls races for each year group. Some of the people from Ayton came in the top ten. Everyone was really supportive and it was team bonding time. Everyone represented Ayton brilliantly. #smallbutmighty

Read moreP6 from Reston and Ayton got together to do the Goblin car project. Two staff members from the high school race team came and showed us a green power presentation all about the new project.
P4/5 Countryside Day

Read moreP4/5 had a nice trip to Kelso on Tuesday 28th of May. They got to see lots of different animals like Guinea pigs, pigs, cow, sheep, goats and slugs. They got to see lots of different emergency service vehicles and they got lots of free stuff like milk and ice cream. Other activities they did was milking a fake cow; made a poster and badges; meat guessing. Everyone had a brilliant day out!
P6/7 Rugby Festival

Read moreP6/7 Went down to Eyemouth High School for the Rugby Festival, they all enjoyed competing against other schools, even though it was very wet! Everyone at Ayton showed great sportsmanship!
World Book Day

Read moreOn Thursday the 7th of march our school did activities set by our library leaders to celebrate World Book Day.
We had three activities, they were book mark designing, reading together with little finger flash lights and cookie designing in the style of the WBD symbol.
We also worked with Berwickshire Swap to organise a book swap. Each child in school had a chance to take home a book that was new to them.Red nose day

Read moreThe pupil council organised a Red Nose Day festival for the boy and girls of Ayton primary. There where 3 activities; an obstacle course, design your own red nose and a put the red nose on members of staff. Everyone had a fun morning with all the activities.

Read moreOn Friday our school organised a Pudsey day for the children at Ayton P.S. We did a treasure hunt with pudsey cards, we had to find 28 pudsey cards hidden around the classroom. Then we went to Mrs Pearson’s class to make biscuits and eat them. they were delicious! We then went to Mrs Lannagan’s class to make drawings of pudsey. After break we did a pudsey assembly and we watched a video about Children in Need. Fun fact: Pudsey was named after a town in Leeds.
Soup making with Splash

Read moreOn Monday we had some visitors from Splash in Eyemouth. They were helping us make soup. Everyone had a great time and some people learned they liked soup after trying some different kinds for the first time. The flavours were Pea, Lentil, and minestrone. Thank you Splash for a great day.

Read moreP6/7 have had a busy week making pumpkin cupcakes. We used the pumpkins we grew in our school garden. The icing was cream cheese and it was delicious. This week we also worked really hard on our spelling words. We usedthe magnetic letters and the scrabble board to take part in practical tasks. A great week for the class.

Read moreIn Numeracy we have been multiplying 2 digit numbers by other sets of 2 digit numbers. We have also been revising basic division strategies. In Literacy we did a “50 Word Epic” task. This involved writing 50 words on any topic of our choice one day and then add 50 more words to the task, the next day. We have also been doing Reading Eggs. Today (14.11.22) we have been learning about Gravity, as part of our “Materials, Forces and Electricity” Topic.

In class recently we have been doing 3D shapes, 2D shapes. We have also been doing Art- Ra patterns, where we rsprinkled rice and lentils on to paper. We have left the art to dry so we haven’t seen the finished product yet!

In Literacy we have started to learn about poetry. So far we have learned about ‘Limerick’ poems. They all have 5 lines, two sets of rhyming words, the last word on the last line and the last word on the second line always rhyme.

If people want to come to Ayton then we are teaching them what Ayton looks like through the models that we are making. We have been learning about cursive handwriting. In spelling we have been learning about double m. in PE we have been learning how to chest pass, how to move in to space and how to move fast.

Read moreWelcome to our school blog. This is where we will put what’s going on in P7. So far in our topic we have been learning about Scottish landscapes and today we made a mini volcano. In numeracy we are learning to multiply and divide by 10,100,1000. In literacy we have been learning about experiment writing.
