Discussion points

Minutes of February meeting approved by JS, KA

Current term - everything funded?

We discussed the only outstanding things to pay for this term are:

  • the contribution to the transport for Priory Live, which DM was able to give us a price of £171
  • Scientific calculators for P7 leavers gift

School trip to Northumberland zoo agreed to be funded in full, tickets and transport, on previous WhatsApp discussion.

Wish lists

We discussed the progress with the previously identified items on the wish list, headphone jacks have been purchased, there is a salt spreader, we need to check that it’s going to be good enough for the winter, going to look for donations for lunch clubs - chess boards and crochet needles and wool.

As the term ends the school plan to do a stock take and identify any additional items for the sensory room that can be added to next years wish list. We spoke about stylus for use with the iPads, perhaps that’s something can add to the wish list, DM to look into what kind would be suitable.

Items identified on a big wish list previously were discussed they are replacement smart boards for the classrooms, portable stage lights and a new stage. DM to explore budgets for smart boards, it was agreed we will consider this once playground project is complete.

Fundraising

We discussed our planned fundraising for the year, next will be the bake sale held on sports day we will ask for parents to bake and will put on teas and coffees as we have done in previous years. In September Ayton show book sale fundraiser as done previously, DM suggested the school library is needing a refresh. Discussed some books going into the sale but also exploring an swap style arrangement with Barter books in Alnwick.

We spoke about different funding options available for projects such as the smart screens and new stage.

School grounds update

JS and DM updated on recent meeting with SBC contractor regarding replacement of bark area. It was suggested it may be over £6000. Through speaking with other schools in the area DM identified another option of using SBC work orders from the criminal justice system. This has been carried out successfully in other schools under SBC supervision and would be a considerable saving.

### Extra maths

ER asked whether there are any additional materials in the class room for maths. DM spoke about the introduction of magma maths on the iPads and will ask teachers if there is anything else they require.

Eyemouth primary school update

JS updated us on her involvement with the amendment to make a stand alone building a priority in the discussions, the campus model is still an option being explored. A group has been formed to continue to challenge the process, raise awareness amongst councillors and look to additional funding support for the school. A letter will be sent from the PFA to the council highlighting theses concerns.
