PFA Sponsored Walk
The Sponsored Walk has been a huge success and raised over £1000! A huge thank you to all involved and a special thank you to Darren and Linda Hall from Ayton Mini Market for the very refreshing ice lollies at the halfway point.
Whole School Trip – Northumberland Zoo
We are delighted to share that on Monday 29th June we will all be heading off to Northumberland Zoo for a whole school end of term trip. A huge thank you to our PFA who have fully funded this brilliant opportunity for our learners at Ayton. We will be leaving at 9am and returning at 3pm. All classes will be taking part in an interactive workshop, a tour of the zoo and play opportunities on site. All children will need a packed lunch. A letter and online permission form will be issued shortly to all families.
PFA Meeting
The next PFA meeting will be held on the 2nd of June at 8pm online. All parents/carers are welcome to attend.
P6 Inspire Learning Day – Springwood Park, Kelso
On Wednesday 3rd of June P6 pupils will be joining other schools from around the Scottish Borders to take part in Inspire Learning Day at Springwood Park in Kelso. Pupils will be leaving school at 8:55am, sharp. Pupils will need a packed lunch, snack, water bottle and weather appropriate clothes. The consent form is available on ParentsPortal and letters have already gone home with P6 pupils.
P7 Parent Information Session at Eyemouth High School
Parents / carers of Primary 7 pupils are invited to the information session at Eyemouth High School on Thursday 4th June, 5.30-6pm.
Primary 6 Priory Live
On Tuesday 9th June, Primary 6 pupils will be attending Coldingham Priory to participate in their ‘Priory Live’ event with other schools from our cluster and Mrs Nottingham. Please bring a packed lunch, snack and water bottle. Children should wear their school uniform and sunscreen as needed. The bus will return in time for normal transport arrangements home. Please use the new Parents Portal app to consent to this trip.
P7 to S1 School Transition
Primary 7 children have been enjoying transition days with their peers within our cluster during May and will attend Eyemouth High School on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th June for the two formal transition days.
Children are expected to travel to Eyemouth High School on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th June by the transport that they are to travel to Eyemouth High School on in August using the Young Scots/NEC card which they have received. Children will follow a timetable for the two days.
School Bake Sale
Our Pupil Council have decided to hold a Bake Sale again this year, to raise funds for Outdoor Learning resources. This will be held on Friday 12th June. All pupils in the school will be given the opportunity to buy a cake from our stall. They can bring in some small loose change that day, which their teacher can look after until the event. We hope this will be a fun event for our children to enjoy, whilst also raising much needed funds to enhance their learning experiences.
Inspire Learning Information Session
Parents / carers of those children who will be Primary 4 in the next academic year have been invited to an Inspire Learning Information Session at Eyemouth Primary School Hall on Tuesday 16th June, 6-7pm. Mr Paul Graham, Inspire Development Officer with Scottish Borders Council will be presenting the information. Please ensure the attendance slips have been returned to the school office by Monday 8th June.
Open Afternoon
P1-7 will be hosting an open afternoon to showcase to parents and carers, their recent learning all about different decades. Parents and carers are welcome to join the class from 2:00pm on Thursday 18th June.
Sports Day
This year our Sports Day will be on Thursday 25th June at 1:00pm on the school field.
Sports Day Bake Sale
The Parent Council will again be hosting a bake sale with teas and coffees during sports day and would be grateful for donations of baked goods. Could the donations please be handed in to the school office on the morning of Thursday 25th June.
P7 Leavers Assembly
Our P7 Leavers assembly is taking place on Tuesday 30th of June at 9:15am. P7 Parents/carers are invited to join us at this event.
Attendance
Please ensure your child arrives at the start of the school day on time, as we still have a few children arriving after the bell at 8.45am.
Please do phone the school if your child is absent from school. You can also use the EduSpot app to notify the school. The school office hours are 8.30am to 3.10pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 12.30 on a Friday. Mrs McAskill will send a group call message if a child is absent and we have not been given a reason.
Parent-Pay
Please continue to make meal choices for your child before 8.00am on the day you wish the booking to be taken.
Changes in pick up
Please contact the school before 2.30pm by telephone, email at aytonps@scotborders.gov.uk or EduSpot, if you are changing your child’s pick-up arrangements at the end of the day. It is very important that we know of changes so that class teachers can be informed.
Water bottle and Snacks
Please ensure your child is sent to school with a filled water bottle and a snack for break time, pupils also benefit from “fruit fix” in the afternoons. As the weather is getting better, please feel free to provide your child with sun cream.
Breakfast Club
Breakfast continues to be operated daily. Breakfast club is open from 08.15-08.30am every day and costs 50p. If you are using this service, please ensure your child arrives before 8.20am. Breakfast Club is a payment item on ParentPay. Please pay in advance.
Uniform
Your cooperation with your child wearing school uniform is greatly appreciated. We do not encourage black jeans and brightly coloured trainers to be worn. We would like children to wear black school shoes.
